Message and we replaced everything. Rings, seals, bearings, gaskets, etc etc etc. Honed the cylinders, lapped the valves, etc etc etc. The works basically. WE did it in a week, I have a full time job and he is a full time student. Runs great, no blown head gaskets. That mechanic is full of shit and I have heard bad things about him before.

: it seems. I talked to the Z Doctor here in Tampa and he says it costs more than the car is worth to do any work on the engine, he says you're better off replacing the engine with finding a used one rather then take it apart to change the head gasket or replace valves, cams, replace turbos or anything period. He said the reason why is once you change the head gasket its going to blow another one very soon even if you remachine the block, he said he doesn't know why that's just the way Zs are. And the biggest problem of all is you can't find used TT engines anyway. In the 2 decades he's worked on Z's he's only been able to find 3 engines and 2 of them didn't hold oil pressure. It costs $3k to do an engine pull and do any work on the engine and he said plan on doing that every other year or so.

: I felt the darkside and I can't stop thinking about how that car felt when I drove it, but I'm not stupid. The TT sounds like its going to be the biggest pain in the ass. I'm about to buy a '90 TT 69k mileage with the motor just rebuilt (long list of things replaced, including head gasket) for $8,700 but I'm having second thoughts, I'm starting to become practical.
